MARRIAGE LICENSE IN CALIFORNIA
Need a Marriage License?
The process can feel a bit daunting and confusing. The process is actually rather straight forward and simple, but reading through all of the information and documentation can be overwhelming.
So here are the basics:
1. APPLY FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE
Both parties (bride & groom) must go, in person, to the County Clerk’s Office to apply for a California marriage License.
-Bring valid picture I.D.
-Money $68 (current price as of 4/13)
(Valid picture identification is one that contains a photograph, date of birth, and an issue and expiration date, such as a state issued identification card, drivers license, passport, military identification, etc. Some counties may also require a copy of your birth certificate.)
*If you have been married before, you will need to know the specific date your last marriage ended, and how it ended (Death, Dissolution, Divorce or Nullity). Some counties may require a copy of the final judgment if your previous marriage ended by dissolution or nullity.
2. GET MARRIED WITHIN 90 DAYS
Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. If you do not get married within 90 days, the license will no longer be valid and you must purchase a new license.
3. RETURN of LICENSE
The person solemnizing the marriage must return the original marriage license to the County Clerk or County Recorder as applicable within 10 days of the date of the ceremony. (Most are aware of this from experience, but it is always good to be aware.)
4. REQUEST AND PAY FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE
You will NOT receive a copy of your marriage license after you have been married unless you request and pay for a certified copy from the County Clerk or County Recorder as applicable.
OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION:
*Don’t need to be a California Resident
*Blood test are NOT required
*Bride & Groom must be 18 or older (If not arrangements for a court order and parent signed consent is needed.)
*All information on the marriage license must be legible, unambiguous and reproducible. DO NOT change any information on the license, cross out information, use white out, etc., as that will require the payment and issuance of a duplicate marriage license. (Contact the County Clerk’s Office if you have questions about completing the marriage license and/or incorrect information contained on the marriage license.)

Red Carpet Beauty Secrets to steal for your WEDDING!
RED CARPET BEAUTY SECRETS FOR YOUR WEDDING
How to Get: Kate Bosworth's Glowing Skin
Our favorite celebrity aesthetician, Renee Rouleau, says there's nothing more effective to remove dull, dry skin than an acid peel. Her Triple Berry Smoothing Peel works in as little as five minutes. Start with a test patch (you'll apply the full peel the same way). First, apply a thin coat of solution to a small section of skin on your forehead. When it tingles, rinse with cool water. Finish with moisturizer.
How to Get: Lea Michele's Smile
Irwin Smigel, DDS (the celeb dentist who created the Supersmile system), claims that this easy treatment "gets your teeth two to four shades whiter in six minutes." Prep for your wedding day with the pocket-size Supersmile Quikee gel. Just apply a drop to your teeth and smooth across with your tongue until it's dissolved. It whitens teeth (and freshens breath) at once.
How to Get: Gisele Bundchen's Natural Waves
The secret to Gisele-style curls is not using a curling iron. "Curling irons can make hair look too done," says celebrity hairstylist Oribe. Instead, begin by spritzing a shine spray all over damp hair. This adds moisture and keeps hair from tangling. Then, separate hair into large sections and create pin curls. Start at the end of each section and roll the strands upward until you meet the base of your scalp. Secure with a clip. Once your hair dries, run your fingers through it to loosen the curls into soft waves.
How to Get: Freida Pinto's High Pony
The casual ponytail is having a high-fashion moment. But what separates this style from those worn by the cheerleaders on Glee is the glamorous pouf on the top. To try it yourself: Separate the middle section of your hair from the front to the crown, and hold the section up and tease underneath to give your hair volume; spray with hairspray to set. Gently comb your unteased locks over the teased section and smooth flyaways. Pin into a pouf and then gather the rest of your hair into a high pony. How to Get: Emma Stone's Tousled Updo
To get this messy yet sophisticated updo, work a texturizing spray into damp hair. Next, use curling irons with two different barrel sizes (half-inch and one-and-a-half-inch barrels), which creates a more natural look, and wrap sections of your hair to curl. Spray volumizing dry shampoo into the roots to get that extra lift. Comb through your hair with your fingers, gather your hair into a high ponytail, twist and pin.

Find a theme that fits the couple of honor.
Wine Tasting Engagement Party
Honor the oenophiles and have each guest bring a bottle of wine to share for the party. You can even provide the wine for the party and host a swap, where each person takes home someone else’s favorite vino. Have plenty of wineglasses on hand (at least enough to have a red and white for each guest), along with ample food options for pairing. Fill out the table with a spread of great cheeses (fresh, aged, soft and hard) and baguettes. A few extras: an olive bar, hummus and pita bread, and even grapes, strawberries and sliced apples. Go the extra mile and hire a sommelier to guide the tasting, or rent out the back room of a local wine bar or winery for a private tasting session.
Cooking Class Engagement Party
Impress foodies with a cooking class hosted at a local culinary school or restaurant. Or hire a chef to teach the class at your home. When it comes to choosing the menu, pick a starter, an entree and a dessert. For ideas on what to make, tap into the couple’s favorite dishes and personalities -- if they both love sweets, make it desserts-only, or if they come from a particular cultural background, serve up international cuisine. Split guests up into smaller groups so that each group can tackle one of the choices on the menu. Have a buffet-style setup of all the food, along with recipe cards for guests to take home at the end of the night.
Rooftop Engagement Party
Stage the celebration at a rooftop bar or restaurant for a cool, intimate setting with amazing views of the city skyline. The vibe can be as formal or as casual as you’d like. Create a swanky, lounge-like atmosphere with sleek rentals, like white ottomans and Lucite tables and chairs. Or just keep it casual with shabby-chic furniture and string lights. As for food, have waiters pass hors d’oeuvres on trays. And don’t forget about the weather. Set out baskets of pashminas and blankets to keep everyone warm in the cooler seasons. For a warm summer night, offer up grown-up takes on favorite childhood treats. Think: cocktail popsicles made with prosecco and berries, bourbon-spiked slushies, or even a lemonade and tea station, complete with a variety of fruit infusions.
Mexican Fiesta Engagement Party
Skip the obvious piƱatas and sombreros -- mark your engagement with bold, bright table settings and pitchers of margaritas and sangria. Deck out your space in festive multicolored paper lanterns, pom-poms, cutout banners or balloons. Instead of traditional vases, place fiery-colored blooms in empty authentic Mexican hot-sauce and soda bottles. Set up a taco bar filled with traditional add-ins (grilled meats, fresh vegetables and a variety of salsas and guacamole). A mingle-friendly idea: Have waiters pass around smaller bites, like empanadas, mini fish tacos and cheese quesadillas. And don’t forget about the music -- arrange for a mariachi band to serenade guests throughout the night.
Chocolate and Champagne Engagement Party
What better way to celebrate the newly engaged than with glasses of champagne and something sweet? Set up a table full of chocolate-chip cookies, truffles, flourless chocolate cakes, a chocolate fondue station and more. Or, if it better suits the couple’s tastes, feel free to switch up the flavor theme or add a variety of other desserts, like petits fours and mini fruit tarts. Along with bubbly for all the toasts, you might want to include a few extra dessert-time drink options -- a coffee, espresso or even a tea bar is a fun idea. At the end of the night, have favor bags and scoops ready so guests can take home any leftover treats.
Buttoned-Up BBQ Engagement Party
For a refined take on this all-American classic, nix the paper, plastic and checkered tablecloths for white linens topped with straw chargers and a few lush flower arrangements. Finish it off with tons of floating candles and string globe lights. Serve fruity cocktails in Mason jars and place glass pitchers of lemonade and iced tea on tables. Dress up standard BBQ fare (like mini pulled-beef and pulled-pork sliders) with crowd-pleasing favorites (think: truffle mac and cheese).
Beach Clambake Engagement Party
Host a clambake or a fish fry, or go upscale with a fancy seafood spread of grilled shrimp, lobster and scallops. When it comes to the sides, stick to the classics -- serve corn on the cob, bruschetta and fresh watermelon. Keep the drinks simple and fill galvanized buckets with ice and bottles of local brew and root beer. Set up tables and chairs right on the beach or on the deck of a beach club or waterfront restaurant, and consider decorating with blue, yellow and white nautical motifs. When the sun goes down, lay beach blankets and pillows on the sand and keep guests warm with a bonfire and s’mores. Favors aren’t required, but consider sending everyone home with saltwater taffy or mini bottles of artisanal sea salt.
Brunch Engagement Party
Dream up the couple’s favorite brunch menu. Maybe it’s French-inspired with mini bottles of champagne, macarons and quiche. Or go more rustic with homemade granola and blueberry pancakes. Another option: Host a cocktail brunch and offer up smaller bites, like scrambled egg tartlets and mini French toast, so guests can mingle and nosh with ease. As for drinks, stick with the staples -- coffee, juice, mimosas and Bellinis are all fair game. And while you can certainly celebrate at a family home or a cozy restaurant, consider going all out with a tented, garden-set affair.

EMBARRASSING PROM MOMENTS!
EMBARRASSING PROM MOMENTS!
#1 Messy Eater
"I'm known for not being able to
get through a meal without spilling on myself. When my prom date
found out I was wearing a white dress, he brought me a bib instead of a
corsage!" —Alia, 17, Saint Cloud, MN
#2 Wardrobe Malfunction!
"The prom dress
I wanted was gorgeous, but it was one size too big. When I tried it on, it was
only a little loose, and I thought my boobs were large enough to hold up the
top. On prom night, the music was playing and I was wrapped up in the
excitement. As I jumped around, my boob popped out. I had to spend the rest of
the night clutching my top!" —Beatrice, 22, Portland, ME
#3 Worst Kiss Ever!
"On prom day, my girlfriends and I
went out for lunch. I started to feel sick after the meal, but I knew prom was
too important to miss over a bellyache. That night, my date and I started
dancing and we were having a really good time. We were having such a good time
that we started to make out near the punch table. As we were kissing,
I started to feel sick again. I didn't want to seem like a loser, so I kept
kissing him. All of a sudden, I puked all over my dress and his tux!" —Lauren,
18, New Windsor, NY
#4 Love Me Not!
"At prom I decided I would dance
with this nerdy guy who had a crush
on me since seventh grade. After all, I was graduating and I thought it was the
nice thing to do. I walked up to him and said, 'I know you've liked me for a
long time, but I just want to be friends...do you still want to dance?' He
replied, 'Okay, but I haven't ever really liked you like that!' It was so
embarrassing!" —Jackie, 18, Amory, MS
#5 Cheap Date!
"On prom night, my date
and I went to dinner beforehand. At dinner, he told me that I needed to get
chicken fingers because they were the cheapest thing on the menu. He then
proceeded to order an expensive steak. When the steak finally got to the table,
he made me cut his meat for him. To top it off, his mom drove us to the
prom!" —Suti, 20, New York, NY
#6 Drunk Date!
"A week before prom, I had
everything ready—except for a date.
After going through my buddy list, I found a guy who agreed to come. The only
problem was that I knew he had a drinking problem. I politely told him that I
go to a small school and that it would be obvious if he was drunk. On the big
night, he took several trips to the bathroom and came back acting increasingly
idiotic each time. Finally, it clicked—he was drunk! I was mortified: My date
was the only one who got kicked out of the prom!" —Kylie, 16, Carmel,
IN
#7 Electric Slide Wipe Out!
"My prom dress was very full and
grazed the ground even with my shoes
on. When I took my shoes off to dance the Electric Slide, my foot caught the
inside of my dress. I wiped out all over the dance floor and fell onto this
really cute junior guy. I helped him up and apologized, to which he responded,
'Stupid freshman.' I was mortified!" —Gabrielle, 16, Nanticoke, PA
#8 My Boob Fell Out!
"I have a very small chest and my dress
was obviously too big in that region. There was a lot of intricate beading on
the dress, and my mom thought it would be too difficult to take in. Instead, I
got a pair of fake boobs and stuck them in my dress with double-sided tape.
That night, I was dancing and got very hot and sweaty. For some reason, the
fake boobs started to disintegrate and the tape was no longer holding them in
place. As I left the prom, I felt something slide down my dress as I walked
past all the teachers. Sure enough, one of the boobs fell out of the dress and
onto the ground!" —Bailey, 17, Neoga, IL
Extreme Boredom!
"I was extremely bored at prom
because my date refused to dance with me. I ended up falling asleep on his lap
and woke up to the principal asking if I was okay!" —Christy, 19, San
Leandro, CA
